Donald Trump is losing his NYC concealed carry permit, an emblematic example of the wackiness of the American system.
Zany: It’s true that America is full of wacky contradictions, laws, and rules that one just can’t help but laugh at. The example provided by this author is a great one that not even I had thought about—and my brain does a lot of useless thinking every night before falling asleep. I absolutely love the irony that this man can no longer be trusted with a firearm, but the nuclear codes? Eh, no big deal.
One thing I have pondered is the number of rights that are lost when someone becomes a convicted felon. Crazy how running for President isn’t one of them. Look at the requirements and disqualifications when it comes to who is allowed to run for President in the U.S. Somehow being convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in order to conceal a crime or in furtherance of committing a crime… Hold on! What was the crime? Interference in a Presidential election.
You would think that this crime in particular, plus his refusal to participate in the peaceful transfer of power, plus the incitement of a violent insurrection, plus the fake electors scheme in states all over the country aka A COUP would disqualify someone for running again, right? If we lose our democracy because our government was stupid enough to let someone who attempted to overthrow that same government to run for President again, I’ll let y’all know when I get to Canada.
I heard an attorney say this morning that the 2016 election was not a landslide victory, but came down to around 80,000 votes in Wisconsin? Don’t quote me on that. It was either 80,000 total, or just in that swing state. He was saying that we’ll never know for sure if Trump would have won if the Stormy Daniel’s story had come out that October. This attorney also said that influencing an election is the most serious crime ever to be concealed by falsifying business records, and the fact that it was a Presidential election is a very big deal. That, along with the report from his PO will be used by Judge Merchan when determining the sentence. That doesn’t look so good for Trump when you include, 10+ gag order violations, lack of remorse, and the continued attacks on the judge and his daughter.
THE DAILY BEAST
Donald Trump’s license to carry a gun is about to be revoked by the New York City Police Department (his concealed carry permit was suspended back in April 2023, after his first indictment was handed down).
This is to say, the man who could very well be in charge of the U.S. nuclear arsenal won’t be able to carry a handgun in his home state.

On one hand, this is emblematic of the often ridiculous, sometimes amusing, contradictions of America’s federalist system. On the other hand, this is very much a story about Trump, and the unique problems and contradictions his very existence conjures and exposes.
Many convicted felons are not even eligible to vote, yet tens of millions of Americans will cast their ballots for a convicted felon (Trump) this November.
Trump couldn’t get a security clearance on his own merits, and has been indicted for retaining classified documents, yet he could once again be given carte blanche authority to view or declassify any document he sees fit.
