Join us in a nationwide economic blackout on February 28, 2025. Show corporations and billionaires they need us.#economicblackout #taxtherich #civildisobediance #protestClick to Post
What’s an Economic Blackout?
An economic blackout is a way for average Americans to show corporations they have the power to hurt them financially. For 24 hours, those participating in the blackout don’t make any purchases from major retailers (like Walmart). They won’t make online purchases, get gas, nothing.
Obviously, if there’s something needed urgently, buy it. You can still remain dedicated to the cause by using cash and buying from a small, local store instead of a big box retailer.
By showing the corporations—and especially the billionaires who think they rule over us right now—how much they lose when we withhold our money for just one day, we get their attention. Once they’re paying attention to us, we make our demands. See the details on what the demands are in this case.
If they ignore us or refuse to meet our demands, we have another economic blackout, but this time it lasts longer than 24 hours. Each time, we increase the length of the blackout, causing companies to lose more and more money.
Eventually the CEOs and billionaires will realize that without us, they wouldn’t have their fortunes. Their companies would fail. Once they realize we mean business and could destroy their company if we wanted to, they’re more apt to listen and honor our demands.
Yesterday, I talked briefly about the success other countries have had when citizens participate in mass worker strikes. The concept is the same, only the corporations are shown they wouldn’t have the fortune from selling a product the workers created/built.
Same concept, different part of the profit cycle. (I just made that term up, but it sounds like an actual thing, doesn’t it? “Profit cycle”: citizens work to create the product, then the company earns a profit off of their labor when other citizens but that product.
Maybe it is a real thing. Honestly, I’m just too lazy to look it up. I haven’t been feeling well. 🤒

~ If they don’t listen (they wont) we make the next blackout longer (We will)
This is our first action.
This is how we make history.
