”That Was Painful” Van Jones Reacts to Joe Biden’s Debate Performance

If you watched Joe Biden’s performance in the 2024 Presidential debate tonight and didn't come away thinking, “We need a different candidate NOW,” then you're in the minority.

If you watched Joe Biden’s debate performance tonight and came away thinking, “We need a different candidate. NOW,” then you’re definitely not alone.

Joe Biden’s 2024 Presidential Debate Performance: My Commentary

Before we dive into the depressing reality, let’s lighten the mood with some of the funnier reactions to Biden’s debate performance on Twitter (X).

And my personal favorite:

I made it maybe 20 minutes into the debate before I had to turn it off. I struggle with an intense inability (I just made that term up. “Intense inability.”™️) to watch another person embarrass themselves and Biden’s debate performance was embarrassing. At the same time, it’s difficult to blame an 81-year-old for looking and acting well… OLD. He looked horrible, sounded horrible, and missed out on so many opportunities to come back at Trump with attacks.

A little bronzer wouldnt have hurt. “Alive human” shade, not “Trump orange.”

Joe Biden’s debate performance…

On immigration

When Trump talked about countries emptying their jails and mental institutions and sending those people into our country, Biden should have said, “So you’re saying that you WANT those people coming into our country? Because we had a bipartisan border security bill to protect American citizens from all those “crazy, dangerous people”, but you called the Speaker and made sure the Republicans killed the bill. You care more about winning the election than you care about the safety of Americans.”

On Geniuses

When Trump said he passed the cognitive test and Ronny Jackson said no one has ever done that, Biden could’ve said, “Donald, I hate to break it to you, but Ronny lied to you. You didn’t take a cognitive or intelligence test, you took a dementia test. So if you aced it, that means you don’t have dementia. Congratulations.”

On Abortion

Trump talked about Dems wanting abortions in the 8th or 9th month and to abort babies after birth. “Roe v Wade didn’t allow abortions in the third trimester except in extreme emergency situations, so you’re lying about late-term abortions. As far as after birth, that’s not an abortion, that’s murder. I’m pretty sure doctors aren’t murdering babies.” He also could have attacked Trump by talking about how insulting it is to women to suggest they would carry a baby for 9 months, go to the OBGYN for the monthly check-ups, have ultrasounds, go through a difficult time for 9 months, then once they deliver the baby, say, “Nah, I don’t want it. Kill it.”

On climate change

Finally, on climate change, Trump said something like, “In my administration we had H2O.” Biden should have said, “Really, Donald? That’s amazing! Do you know what H2O is? No? You just bragged that you had water in your administration. I’m glad to hear everyone was hydrated!”

It’s depressing to think how Biden’s debate performance caused him to miss out on all of the opportunities to call out Trump, especially considering that CNN moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash did ZERO fact-checking or pushing back against Trump’s obvious lies. It was frustrating to see Biden let him get away with it.

What did you think about the debate? Let me know in the comments. ??
