Have you ever seen something so absolutely nonsensical that you feel crazy when no one else seems to notice it? Trump’s latest political stunt made me seriously question if I had gone insane.
If you’re here reading this right now, there’s a good chance that you’re a Progressive—or at the very least, you’re on the Left. Did you happen to see the wake for Officer Diller in New York? If you did, you probably saw the same ridiculousness I witnessed.
A tragic incident in New York recently made national headlines. Two things got the attention of Donald Trump: Crime and New York City.
Officer Diller was shot
Officer Diller and his partner were patrolling an area of Queens when they noticed a car parked at a bus stop with two men inside. After an interaction with the men, the driver was ordered out of the vehicle.
From Daily Mail UK:
“When they asked the 34-year-old suspect to step out of the car he refused, pointed a gun at the officers and fired, hitting Diller in the torso just below his bullet-resistant vest.
Rivera ‘was asked to leave the car, he was given a lawful order numerous times to step out of the car, he refused,’ NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.
‘And when the officer took him out of the car, instead of stepping out of the car he shot our officer.’”
The suspect, Guy Rivera, had numerous arrests on drug and gun charges. The exact amount is unclear. Three different arrest counts were reported by news outlets: 14, 21, and 70. I’ve seen 20 and 21 more than once, so 20 is probably closest to the actual number.
Now comes the part of the story that stole my sanity.
The Twilight Zone or just Earth 2.0?
Trump traveled to New York in order to attend the wake of Officer Diller. He stood outside and spoke with reporters, flanked by dozens of officers from the gathering. He talked about crime and how he’s going to bring back law and order when he’s President. He called police officers the most important people in the country and vowed not to let criminals get away with violence against the boys in blue again,
See it yet?
Donald Trump doesn’t care about Officer Diller or any other police officer. If they go after his supporters, he stops backing the blue and pretends like they don’t even exist. Imagine how Officer Sicknick’s mother must feel to see Trump at the wake for Officer Diller after he has never said a word to her about her son. Her son protected the Capitol building and the man who was in the White House at the time has never mentioned the brave Capitol police officers.
Donald Trump sat in front of the television in the White House and watched cops being beaten, brutalized, maimed, and traumatized for hours on end—And he enjoyed it. He did NOTHING to help them, nothing to stop the attacks. He never said a word to the mother of Brian Sicknick or to the families of the officers who took their own lives after the trauma they experienced. There was a cop who lost an eye, another who lost fingers, and another who was crushed in a doorway by the crowd of insurrectionists. Officer Michael Fanone lost consciousness and suffered a heart attack after being dragged down the stairs, beaten by multiple people with flag poles, and tased at the base of his skull repeatedly.
Yet Trump attended the Wake for Officer Diller, who he has never met or known about until he saw the story in the news. He stood there and vowed to protect police officers? This cannot be real!
I watched the police officers who were standing around Trump as he spoke to reporters and not one of them showed a flicker of emotion or recognition of the irony of the stunt. The reporters acted as though this was completely normal. BBC reported on the event as if it were just any Presidential candidate. That tightened the straitjacket even more.
From the BBC article:
“”We have to do a lot of things differently because this is not working. This is happening too often,” Mr Trump told reporters.
President Joe Biden, a Democrat who Mr Trump is challenging for the White House, was in New York at the same time as his predecessor. He is attending a large fundraiser on Thursday evening at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. The event was set to feature former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and numerous celebrity guests.
Mr Trump, who faces 91 felony charges across four criminal cases, and his staff sought to draw a contrast between the two visits.
Mr Trump will be “honouring the legacy of Officer Diller” while Mr Biden “will be at a glitzy fundraiser in the city with their elitist, out-of-touch celebrity benefactors,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung wrote on X, formerly Twitter.””
Alright, I’m heading off to check myself in somewhere now.
