“Former President Donald Trump gave a lengthy speech on the economy from his golf club in New Jersey on Thursday and painted a dire picture of the U.S. economy, calling it a “nightmare” and claiming there would be a stock market crash if Kamala Harris is elected. As Trump spoke live on Fox News a ticker was shown in the bottom right of the screen tracking the stock market, which showed the Dow up almost 1.4 percent, some 554 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied to close at 40,563, while the Nasdaq ended up some 2.3 percent.

Trump attacked Harris and President Joe Biden making a series of claims about the economy. Trump claimed, “100% of the net job creation in the last year has gone to migrants.” “You know that most of the job creation has gone to migrants. In fact, I’ve heard that substantially more than, beyond that, actually, beyond the number of 100%, it’s a much higher number than that. But the government hasn’t caught up with that yet.””
