ANTIFA is not a group: Being Antifa—an Explainer

This won’t be a long post, it only comes as I get tired of hearing the words, “members of Antifa” and “Antifa destroyed property during the protest.”

This won’t be a long post, it only comes as I get tired of hearing the words, “members of Antifa” and “Antifa destroyed property during the protest.” I need to alleviate my frustration by sharing something that people who say those things could possibly see.

Antifa is short for “Anti-fascist” Why are so many Conservatives attacking the concept of being against fascism? Perhaps that in itself is a warning that Conservatives want the United States to become a fascist country. I already know they are definitely moving toward fascism and don’t care one tiny iota. That being the case, I’m still not sure that they understand Antifa. Maybe they do, but play ignorant so they can pass on the misinformation that Antifa is an official group with members that meets and plans events.

Anti, anti, anti…

Antifa can include people who believe in the cause who might attack groups or parties that are attempting to bring fascism or other things they are against, to their country, but it’s not an “official group” as Trump believes. He wanted to designate it as a terrorist group during his presidency. To make it easier for anyone who might be unsure, just replace any mention of “Antifa” with “anti-fascist.

From CBS:

“In general, people who identify as antifa are known not for what they support, but what they oppose: Fascism, nationalism, far-right ideologies, white supremacy, authoritarianism, racism, homophobia and xenophobia. Some Antifa activists also denounce capitalism and the government overall”. Doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know as to why Republicans are against Antifa?

If you know someone who misuses the term and/or the meaning of Antifa, pass this on.
