Meghan McCain Doesn’t Like Matt Gaetz
“Meghan McCain is melting down over Matt Gaetz a day after her husband, a conservative political writer, called him “a sex trafficking drug addicted piece of s–t” on his Substack. Meghan Mccain’s husband had the best line in the title where he called Matt Gaetz a “Sex Pest” (I plan to use that term more often).
Ethics Report Should Be Released: McCain
McCain, a Republican TV personality and the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, took to X to express her dismay at Speaker Mike Johnson’s efforts to stop the House Ethics Committee from releasing its possibly damaging report on Gaetz, the controversial right-wing lawmaker who is Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general.
”Trump Cult of Personality”
“Why are we not allowed to know about potential criminal behavior from an attorney general nominee?” McCain wrote. “Is the Trump cult of personality that strong for Speaker Johnson that he actually thinks this is rational?”
There’s no telling what will happen with the Matt Gaetz ethics report that was supposed to be released last Friday, but if he is going to be the nominee for Attorney General, it’s important to know about potential criminal activity. Gaetz is accused of sex trafficking a minor and witnesses claim they saw him having sex with that minor at a party.
Drug use and supplying minors with illicit drugs are 2 issues that Senators should also be aware of during Gaetz’s confirmation hearing. While those of us at Zany Progressive have no problem with drug use or sex parties, neither are activities you want the head of the DOJ to be engaging in. How could he prosecute people for drug possession when he likely possesses drugs?
Recall that Matt Gaetz was also one of 20 Republicans in the House who voted against an anti-human trafficking bill. For him to vote against that bill and then face a DOJ investigation for sex trafficking of a minor is insane.
No one is 100% certain about why the DOJ decided not to charge Gaetz after their investigation, but it could partly be due to pressure from his father along with threats Gaetz issued on Fox News. Other factors are likely to include that he was a sitting member of Congress at the time. One pundit stated that he heard it was because the minor was 17 and 3/4 years old, leaving them to determine that she was too close to being an adult.
Regardless of that age argument, it’s still important to consider that Gaetz is 42 years old. Having sex with a junior in high school is still inappropriate. Even if she had been 18 at the time.
