“To say no to President Trump would be to say no to God.”

President Donald Trump’s personal Pastor, Paula White, has been chosen by Trump to lead the new White House Faith Office.

You can skip to the video if you don’t want to read my commentary. (rude… 😅)

Who is Paula White?

Paula White is a televangelist based in Florida who has used church funds to pay for “luxuries.” Why people will watch these televangelists, who have openly discussed needing a “second jet,” and send them money that many can’t afford to give, is a question that will forever stump my logical reasoning brain.

I guess it’s the same phenomenon with Trump supporters. They will send money to a billionaire when they can barely afford to buy groceries. Even with news reports about the millions he made while he was president in his first term.

We need a psychiatrist or psychologist to explain this to us. In fact, that’s going to be my next article—an interview with an expert in psychology to explain a few behaviors that I haven’t been able to come up with a logical explanation for.

People who give money to someone who is already incredibly wealthy. 😵‍💫

People who see Trump as some holy man of deep faith.

Some people see Donald Trump as a man of God—or God Himself according to Paula White—when they know he has committed adultery in each of his 3 marriages, has been found liable for sexual abuse (rape, according to the judge), has been accused of sexual assault more than a dozen times, has committed more crimes than I can count, including charity fraud, where he had to pay $2M back to 8 charities after he used funds raised by his foundation for personal things, created a fake university, ripped off a lot of people, then had to pay them all back.

How do Evangelicals look at a corrupt, racist, misogynist, sociopath and see a holy man, or as Paula White sees him, God.

He lied over 30,000 times in his first term, he doesn’t go to church, hasn’t read the Bible, and said he has never asked God for forgiveness because he “doesn’t bring God into the picture,” and hasn’t “made any mistakes.”

I’m spiritual, but not religious.

However, I attended Vacation Bible school as a kid and in my early teens I did the Bible lessons by mail thing (Getting tests back with a gold star on them was just so satisfying!), so I know a good bit about Christianity and the Bible. I’m pretty sure one of the Ten Commandments says “don’t worship false idols.” They already created a gold statue of Trump.

Pastor Paula White now leads the White House Faith Office. She speaks in tongues, grifts off of believers, and has also committed adultery in 2, possibly all 3, of her marriages. She was caught using church funds for personal luxuries. You know, mansions and jets and gold statues (made up that last one.)

Republicans Against Trump posted a video of Paula White on X and made sure to remind us all that her behavior is “not normal.

It’s been a slow process, though it feels like it happened much more quickly: Donald Trump, his allies, the Jan. 6 rioters and the militias have been saying and doing increasingly weird or unlawful things to desensitize us to the signs of a dying democracy.

Fascism game

Here’s a game you can play. Take something outrageous Trump has said or done recently and imagine that you are seeing that behavior or hearing those words with your pre-Trump brain. (your perspective before Trump became President).

I play the game often and sadly, there is a lot of fascistic behavior that just “doesn’t seem that bad” because both Trump and the media have normalized some crazy s**t.

My brain actually breaks if I try and ponder how, after a President refused to peacefully transfer power to his successor, organized a coup using fake electors, incited an insurrection against our government, did NOTHING to stop it when lawmaker’s lives were in danger, and…

We elected him President again. Don’t think about it for too long because your brain cannot find any logic in that so it will short circuit
