Press Secretary snaps as reporter demands answers

CNN's Kaitlan Collins refused to let Trump's Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt off the hook, and she was not happy at all. The Damage Report's John Iadarola breaks it down.

The Trump Administration Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt has, many times during press briefings, shown that she has no patience when it comes to reporters asking questions or calling her out on lies. A reporter who recently corrected her after she explained that “tariffs aren’t a tax HIKE, they’re a tax CUT” for consumers.

Since President Trump initiated trade wars with multiple allies, he and his allies in the administration and conservative media have been pushing the false narrative that consumers don’t pay the additional costs from tariffs, the foreign countries or the businesses themselves are the ones who pay them. (Trump sincerely believes the countries pay them)

While it’s technically the businesses importing the products from foreign countries the tariff is applied to, they always pass the additionalcosts onto consumers. This became clear to Fox News viewers when they were interviewing the owner of a car dealership and he explained that a customer was about to buy an $80,000 truck, but the tariffs increased the price to $100,000, so he’s no longer going to buy it.

This isn’t about Karoline Leavitt, though. Only partly. This video highlights clips from the White House and Capitol Hill where this administration’s commitment to the First Amendment of the Constitution is brought into question by their words and actions.

Freedom of Speech has been talked about a lot recently, especially after a green card holder was arrested and is being held in an ICE detention center awaiting the revocation of his green card and deportation back to Syria because of his participation in a pro-Palestinian/Pro-peace protest on the campus if Columbia University.

The recent attacks on our right to free speech and protest should alarm everyone. Even if you disagree with the speech, it will eventually affect you or someone you know when the government decides to target some other speech they disagree with.

The Damage Report With John Iadarola, Your daily breakdown of the true threats and challenges facing our country and our world. An unflinching, no holds barred accounting of the damage done by the Trump administration, and the day by day battle to hold them accountable.
