Senator Chris Murphy posted a video statement on X following President Trump’s late morning press conference. His behavior was disgusting for a person and unacceptable for the President of the U.S. informing citizens about a tragedy where over 60 people died.
I was already watching the news when President Trump came on to do a press conference about the tragic collision of a Black Hawk helicopter and a passenger jet over the Potomac river in D.C. last night.
He started off reading from notes he had in front of him on the podium, occasionally adding his own “stream of consciousness” commentary; “tragedy,” “terrible,” “not good,” etc.
When he started blaming DEI I could barely continue watching. When he blamed Biden for rolling back his first administration’s requirements that only people with the highest intellect could work as air traffic controllers, I was embarrassed.
When he said only “geniuses” should be allowed in that position, I became so freaking embarrassed for my country that I turned the TV off. I didn’t realize until later how awful he had been. His interaction with CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, for example:

Trump embarrasses himself, U.S. Regularly
I can watch Donald Trump say dumb shit and embarrass himself in video from events that already happened, no problem. I simply cannot be a part of something happening in real time that makes me feel shame, and he embarrasses our country on a regular basis.
I’m pissed that people voted him back in office. In just the first week he has destroyed our standing in the world, rolled back environmental regulations to save our planet and reduce the number and severity of extreme weather events; a consequence of climate change that we can already see!
Fascist Behavior
He’s taking away the rights and dignity of the most vulnerable groups of people, enriching himself and his billionaire buddies, and absolutely crushing our economy.
Mass deportations are causing food shortages, high prices, and soon we’ll see businesses close due to worker shortages or they’ll move to technology to replace the workforce they’ve lost. Either way that’s bad news for workers at these companies.
He cut off the ability of public health agencies to release any information to the public (probably due to avian flu after someone died from it. I’m sure he’s terrified of dealing with another COVID-type situation). Either way we now don’t have updates on its spread, what states are affected and I don’t know for sure if this is one of their duties, but I’m hoping it doesn’t mean we wont get notification of contaminated egg recalls, etc.
Thank you, Senator Chris Murphy and the other Democrats who consistently call out the disgusting behavior of Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress. It’s very cathartic for people like me who are beginning to feel helpless and hopeless in Trump’s second term.
