President Donald Trump wants to deport US citizens to a mega prison in El Salvador. A post by that country’s President confirms this.
The President of El Salvador released a statement reporting that he had spoken with President Donald Trump and agreed to accept inmates from US Prisons being deported to be housed in a mega prison located there in El Salvador.
First: Deporting U.S. citizens? Excuse me? Trump did say on the campaign trail that he wanted to deport college students protesting the war in Gaza on campuses, but it was assumed he meant foreign students here on visas (though I said at the time that he’d love to deport American students as well on behalf of his megadonors like Miriam Adelson.
In a post on X, the President of El Salvador said that El Salvador has “offered the United States of America the opportunity to outsource part of its prison system.” He said his country would accept only “convicted criminals” and would charge a fee that “would be relatively low for the U.S. but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable.”
