I wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw the video title while browsing YouTube. I’ve seen Pete smack down Fox News hosts with skill many times before but how could Pete Buttigieg win over MAGA bros?
I was imagining “MAGA bros” as the “January 6th” kinda MAGA guys. Shame on me for forgetting about the different levels that exist in the genre of Trump voters (hardcore MAGA 100% loyal, Independents (only voted for him in 2024—for the economy), and Anti-War and Populist (also known as The Bros, they are tech dudes and podcast hosts. Joe Rogan and the Barstool Sports guy are in this category).
The “Bros” like Trump, they voted for him, but they have no problem disagreeing with him or calling him out on things they don’t like (tariffs, El Salvador deportations, accidental deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, denying habeas corpus, etc).
I’ve always been a “brains over brawn” kinda gal, so my crushes are typically intelligent men who are funny and, honestly, a little nerdy.
That’s why I have a girl crush on Pete.
He was the Transportation Secretary in the Biden Administration and while he is a politician, he also served in the military. Progressives hate the idea of him becoming the Democratic nominee in 2028 and I get it… kinda. 🫣
I just think he’s great at messaging. He speaks to the American people in a way that’s easy to understand. It doesn’t sound like he’s just regurgitating memorized talking points.
You know, the way most members of the Democratic Party sound. Regardless, it isn’t like I’ve been out here rooting for him to run.
This video might have changed my mind, though. Just to the point where I wouldn’t be inconsolable if he ended up winning the nomination for 2028 (I feel silly talking about something that might not happen. Elections may not even exist by then).
Here is Pete Buttigieg, sitting on couches with a group of guys “just talking” like normal human beings do. Dems have a tough time doing that! That’s why Harris refused to go on Joe Rogan’s show. 3 hours is a long time to worry about what you’re going to say next.
What really got me was the way he delivered the policy agenda of the Democratic Party (or at least for him). He said it in a way that even the MAGA bros were into! It was just masterful.
I’m prepared for the nasty comments I’ll get for saying this, but please don’t say anything unless you’ve actually watched the entire video. You can’t judge my reaction to something if you haven’t even seen it, right?
I hadn’t heard of Luke Beasley prior to finding this video, but that’s definitely because of my age. If I was young, I know I’d be watching the younger generation of political podcasters out there. Luke does a great job and I enjoyed watching this video.
